Alumni talk on "FROM IDEA TO IMPACT: NAVIGATING THE JOURNEY OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP"

The IE(I) - Mechanical Engineering Chapter, JECC, organized an Alumni cum Entrepreneurship Talk on 17th December 2024, at the Insight Hall, JECC. The event featured Er. Jose Sunny Kattukaran, Chairman of KATPENTER Construction and Interior Company, as the resource person. Er. Jose, an esteemed alumnus from the 2010-2014 Mechanical Engineering batch, shared his inspiring journey and valuable entrepreneurial insights with the attendees. Approximately 40 students from the second and third year of Mechanical Engineering participated in the program. The talk focused on the challenges, opportunities, and rewards of entrepreneurship, providing a practical perspective to aspiring engineers interested in venturing into business. Er. Jose Sunny Kattukaran elaborated on his professional experiences, including the strategies he adopted to establish and grow his enterprise. He also discussed the significance of innovation, adaptability, and persistence in achieving entrepreneurial success. The session was interactive, with students engaging in a lively Q&A segment to seek advice and clarify their doubts. Feedback from the attendees was overwhelmingly positive. Workshop on "AUTOMOTIVE ENGINE SYSTEMS"

The IE(I) - ME Chapter, JECC, successfully organized a one-day workshop on "Automotive Engine Systems" on 30th August 2024. The event was held at TATA IIIC, JECC, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from 42 third-year Mechanical Engineering students. The workshop aimed to provide an in-depth understanding of various automotive engine systems and their practical applications. The resource persons for the workshop were Dr. Cijil B. John, Associate Professor - ME, JECC, and Mr. D. Navin Sam, Assistant Professor, EEE-JECC. Both speakers brought their expertise and experience to the session, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience for the attendees. The workshop included detailed explanations and hands-on training on several key automotive engine systems, including: Starting System Ignition System Fuel Injection System Cooling System Air Conditioning System Power Transmission System Fuel Supply System Engine Exhaust System The interactive nature of the session allowed students to gain practical insights into the functioning and integration of these systems within modern automotive engineering. The hands-on activities were particularly engaging, enabling students to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. The feedback from the students was overwhelmingly positive. They appreciated the practical approach and the clarity with which the topics were presented. Many highlighted the relevance of the workshop in bridging the gap between academic learning and industry practices. Workshop on "INTRODUCTION TO AUTOMOBILE TECHNOLOGY AND PLC"

A workshop on "Introduction to Introduction to Automobile Technology & PLC" was organized for second-year B.Tech students of the Mechanical Engineering department at Jyothi engineering College. Dr. Cijil B John, Associate Professor, ME and Mr. Majeendran K., Trade Instructor, MRE were the resource persons for the programme. The workshop aimed to provide the students with a foundational knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and their applications in the automotive industry. This was part of the department’s ongoing effort to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical industry applications. Content Covered: 1. Introduction to PLC:  Definition and significance of PLCs in modern automation.  Basic architecture and working principles of PLCs.  Common applications of PLCs in various industries, with a focus on automotive systems.  Overview of programming languages used in PLCs, such as ladder logic. 2. PLC in the Automotive Industry:  Specific examples of how PLCs are used in automobile manufacturing and operations.  Case studies on automation processes in car assembly lines.  Discussion on the future trends in PLCs and their impact on the automotive sector. The workshop was well-received by the students, who appreciated the practical insights provided by the faculty. The students found the session highly informative, especially the real- world examples of PLC applications in the automotive industry. The workshop successfully met its objectives by enhancing the students' understanding of PLCs and their significance in mechanical engineering, particularly in the automotive sector.

Webinar on "Scanning Electron Microscopy and X-ray Microanalysis"

A webinar on SEM and X-ray microanalysis was conducted on 20th June 2020 at 02:30 PM in association with (IE) India. Fr. Dr. Jose Kannampuzha (Academic Director, JECC) Presided the inaugural function and the chief guests Dr. Sunny Joseph Kalayathankal ( Principal, JECC) and Dr. Biju P.L(HOD, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, JECC) and students from all semesters were present for the event. Dr. Biju P.L delivered the welcome address and Dr. Sunny Joseph Kalayathankal delivered the Presidential address for the function. Fr. Dr. Jose Kannampuzha explained the relevance and importance of SEM and X-ray microanalysis in the Engineering and Research area. After the official inauguration the tech talk was delivered by Dr. George Raphel (Asst. Professor, Dept. of ME). The Tech session was highly apt and relevant as evinced by the large student participation. There was a QA session at the end of the Tech talk in which participants were at liberty to clear their doubts. The session was conducted with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Praveen Raj, (Asst. Professor, Dept. of ME). The session was well appreciated by the students as well as the faculty.
