About The Department

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering started the Bachelor of Technology programme in Electronics & Communication Engineering in the year 2002.The programme started with an intake of 60 students. The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Jyothi Engineering College offers the best opportunity for budding professionals to learn and perform well in today's competitive world.Well qualified and committed faculty are our strength. The programme is supported by good infrastructure facilities The B.Tech.programme has good placement records every year.

KTU is providing B.Tech Degree with Minor option for all students for improving their skills in multidisciplinary areas. The student shall earn additional 20 credits to be eligible for the award of a B. Tech Degree with Minor.KTU is also providing B.Tech(Honours) option for all students for improving their skills in their respective disciplines. The student shall earn additional 20 credits to be eligible for the award of a B. Tech (Honours) Degree.Minor and Honour degree options help the students to mould themselves to a T- professionals.

The department is accredited first in 2016 by the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi for three years, re-accredited in 2019 and recently in 2022 accredited for three more years. The department also offers M.Tech Program from 2017, in Communication Engineering and Signal Processing with an intake of 6. The department is recognized as a research centre by KTU to offer full-time/Part Time Ph.D program.

The department has all the necessary infrastructure, highly qualified and experienced faculty for a better teaching learning experience to students .The department is continuously undertaking the research, development and training activities in emerging technologies for students and faculty. The department is collaborating with different Organizations and signed MOU’s with different Industries to provide training and undertaking consultancy projects as per the industry demands.

Programme Educational Objectives

  1. Graduates shall have fundamental and advanced knowledge in electronics and communication engineering along with knowledge in mathematics, science and computing and get employed in national or international organizations or government agencies.
  2. Graduates shall have ability in analyzing, designing and creating innovative solutions which lead to a lifelong learning process or higher qualification, making them experts in their profession thus helping to solve electronics & communication engineering and social problems.
  3. Graduates shall have good organizing capability, presentation skills, communicating ability, leadership, team work and ethical practices.

Programme Specific Outcomes

1.Apply theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering to analyze, design,and implement electronic systems, communication networks, and signal processing solutions effectively.

2. To cultivate a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students, enabling them to identify and address real-world challenges in electronics and communication.

3. To instill a sense of social responsibility and ethical awareness in students by preparing them to use their technical expertise for the betterment of society and the environment.

Programme Outcomes

Students in the programme at the time of their graduation are expected to possess the following capabilities:

  1.  Ability to apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  2.  Ability to Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  3.  Ability to design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  4.  Ability to use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  5.  Ability to create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  6.  Ability to apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  7.  Ability to understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
  8.  Ability to apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
  9. Ability to function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings
  10.  Ability to communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
  11.  Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
