In 2012, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Jyothi Engineering College took a significant stride forward with the initiation of the MTech program in Power Electronics. Power Electronics had been a thrust area in Electrical Engineering. It focuses on processing, controlling, and converting electric power. Power electronics utilize high voltages and currents to deliver power to electrical equipment and devices. With a sanctioned intake of 18 students, the program was conceived to meet the growing demands of the industry and foster specialized knowledge in the dynamic field of power electronics. At present the sanctioned intake is for only 6 students.
